I'm back from Europe
I don't know if you heard but I broke my shit up good
here's the story
all true I'm afraid
2 broken vertebrae
left side transverse process of cervical #6 & #7
Transverse process is the prong that juts out the side of your vertebrae
C7 is broken apart. C6 is fractured but not separated.
C6 and C7 are the last 2 neck bones before your back starts.
So when you bend your head down, the bone that sticks out the most on
your back is C7.
It happened in Lausanne, Switzerland at the contest during practice
early on Thursday July 6th 2000
I was boardsliding a long flat bar that ended with a kinked rail.
My board stuck and I violently sacked the rail then scraped my stomach
on the kink on my way to a no handed head skid that sanded a 2 inch
square section of hair off of my head. My neck then folded over cracking
the two vertebrae. I had a cut on my head requiring 4 stitches and my
shoe had fallen off.
I was taken to the hospital to be X-rayed and stitched. The doctor told
me I had no breaks, just whiplash. He gave me a flimsy brace to wear
wich I did half-assedly.
I then travlelled to Holland and went for a check-up X-ray. The doctors
there discovered a displaced vertebrae and had me come back for a CAT
scan. The CAT scan showed the 2 broken bones.
So now I have a hard plastic collar I will most likely have to wear for
6 weeks. possibly 5 since I did it a while ago.
