| Guestbook 2008
2009 | 2007 | 2006 | 2005 | 2004 | 2003 | 2002 | 2001 Email me your comments and I'll put them in the Guestbook. Uh, I never skated Apple, because me and my friends were either going to Kona, Gadsden, Huntsville or back to Kona. We went there a lot. However, after reading the responses from folks, I'd say we skated with a good bit of them. Notably Britt Batmite, and where was Bowers name? Oak Ridge, Billy Saunders, and yes the Ramp Ranch crew. Yeah Im from Atlanta, also. Noland, TK, Load, the OBrien brothers, Lenny, John Boy, etc. Now its time to say Im the guy that put out Skate Rat whilst you were living in Cali. And Ive got every single Skate Fate you sent me. Uh, Smith on the cover in a huge--well, at least super stylish--frontside tuck knee at Del Mar, if I remember right. Also, the cover of Lance clowning down the slide. The Billy Ruff interviewuh, was it four or five photos of a backside carve grind? Who cares? The guy had style. The Peralta issue, and a few more. Thanks for showing the way to display street-level skating in a Xerox kind of way. Oh, you may not remember this, but I sent you a zine and you sent me back a letter saying, and Im paraphrasing here, " It was blue and there were no pictures and then all of a sudden, there were, and I was confused." Well, that was along time ago, and I dont remember what it was called. Anyhoo, I didnt look at the flicks and probably wont cause how is this best said? WE WERE THERE.Alan Gardner, 12-15-08 What happened to Apples building? I am 15 and started skating three years ago. My friends dad told me about that place and now Im pissed, cuz I cant skate it. What happened to the building?Marshall, 10-3-08 Hello. Love the site. I managed a skate team for a few years and also reveled in many of the parks. I lived in Columbus, Ohio starting in January 1980 and visited Apple many times when it was open. One of the pictures you have in the Little Bowls section is my brother. He came and spent the Summer of 1980 with me in Columbus. But the correct spelling on the last name is Vossler. I am currently in New Jersey on business, but when I return to my home, I will get out my "Columbus years" photo album and see about scanning in the photos I have of Apple. Good luck and thanks.John Vossler, 7-21-08 I represent a reputable rebar fabrication shop and I'm looking to purchase a link on your Pete Kunz interview. I don't want a banner, just a simple text link for the word "rebar." I'm offering $50 for at least a year. We could also make the payment in the form of a donation to the charity or event of your choice. Is this something you're interested in and which is your preference?Mike Johnson, 6-25-08 Hey GarryThanks for getting back to me again. Very happy I scored the Kona tiles and you should be very happy you still have one tile from the Keyhole. (Who could have known back then that a one-inch tile could mean so much to us old men?) If you ever hear of anyone offloading any pieces, please forward on my email, as I would very much like to add to the chuck I have. Hope all is well in your neck of the world and take care. Many thanks again. Cheers.Mark Weatherstone, 5-1-08 Hey GarrySorry to bother you again, but I read somewhere online that you were at Del Mar Skate Ranch during the days when it was being bulldozed and that you grabbed a heap of tiles from the bowls. Not sure if this is true, or even if you did, if you still have any, but I recently got a chunk of tile from the Kona Bowl from DMSR, and I would very much like to add a piece of the Keyhole if you have any for sale or trade. It's a long shot, but thought I would drop you a quick one just in case. Hope all is well and hope to chat later. Cheers and thanks.Mark Weatherstone, 4-28-08 Hello, Apple web page. Do you have email addresses from Guestbook people? I'm looking for Ken Eisenlord. I was just reading through the Guestbook and read that he signed in and said he used to skate Troscos ramp with Greg Mack. Me, too! But with Greg's little brother, Jeff. He also said that he was coming to Copper Mountain a year ago for his sons snowboard nationals. I live at Copper, own a lodging company, snowboarded for about 22 years, and know that the nationals is coming back this year. Anyway, blah-blah. Do you have his email? Thanks.Rich Rapp, 2-14-08 HeyGreat site, great skatepark. I'm just dropping you a quick email to see if you or anyone you know would like to trade / sell any old Apple Skatepark stickers--even used ones are okay if they can be removed. I have some other old skatepark stickers for trade, so please drop me a line back if you have any doubles. Many thanks and cheers.Mark Weatherstone, 2-4-08 Hello, my name is Chris. Im an aging skater and I found your site on Apple Skatepark. It blew my mind. Im a musician and Im employed at a music store in Westchester, The pics of the ramp in Westchester on your site also blew me away. Where was this? I live in Middletown. There was a ramp here in my town, also, owned by the Downeys. Do you remember these guys? I guess I m digging into my skate roots. Any help / stories I'd love to hear about. This area was pretty happenin for skating! Now, Ill go back and read about Apple. Also, I noticed your name is Garry Davis? Theres not a Scott in there somewhere, is there? Thanx.Chris Lester, 1-24-08 |
