I found a copy of some results from a skateboard competition held at the University of Dayton Arena in 1978. The event was held four years in a row, from 1977-80. I participated in the last three. I'm looking for results from the other years.Tom Duffy, 12-14-05

Hey there. I was wondering what ever happened to Fred Blood? He and I skated for years with Duke Rennie. We all grew up in Hermosa Beach together. If you have any contact info for Fred or Duke, I would like to see what they are up to these days. Thank you.Paul Forsythe, 11-29-05

I was amazed to see all this info on Apple. I grew up in Westerville, Ohio, and was at the opening. We skated that park hard for the first year or so, but then I moved to Florida and never returned. I remember the awesome pools with perfect transitions, tile and coping. The company and the tunes were always good, as are the memories. I'm now 44 years old and live in Atlanta. I still skate a ramp every once in a while, and last weekend I picked up a Sector 9 Cloud 9 longboard for ripping a local spillway and doing some paved trails, sidewalks and parking lots.

I have no idea where my old bros from those days are now, as we didn't stay in touch, unfortunately. Through the years, I have been doing some serious snowboarding. I spent the last 12 years in North Carolina and Virginia, close to the Southeast resorts. If this gets posted and any old school Ohio dudes remember Jeff Miller, feel free to drop me a line at grafixart2001 at msn.com. Keep skating and promoting the old school Vans. Peace!Jeff Miller, 09-30-05

To whom it may concern: I am interested in licensing a couple of pictures on this site. More specifically, the pool skateboarding shots. I am looking for one-year internet usage on these photos. Please contact me so that we can discuss further. Thanks in advance.Lauren Wolk, 08-30-05

Hey, Garry—My son Giovanni was hit by a car in a crosswalk by a drunk driver. He went through the car window and was taken by helicopter to the hospital. He was banged up really bad, but he is lucky. I got pictures. They're bad. They tried to say it was my son's fault because he was on a skateboard. I almost lost my son.Casey Marzetti, 08-05-05

Yeah, I like these apples with caramel, and now every time I eat them, I'll think of you and your skatepark.Patty Penn, 07-20-05

Howdie. I was just scanning through your Apple Skatepark site and noticed the picture of Bobby Reeves. Then I read that he was missing in action, sorta. I know he was skating Kona in Florida for years, because I kinda grew up skating there and Bob was one of the park killers, along with Buck Smith. Park killers meaning they were insane, among the best! Bob was older than me, but we were friends. I never called him Bobby, though. The only person who I ever heard call him that was Kona's owner, Ms. Ramos. In fact, I heard her call Buck Smith "Buckly" a few times, which I thought was quite humorous.

Anyway, I'm sure you could get in touch with him personally if you went to the Kona site and emailed them, or called them directly and talked to Marty Ramos, who owns the place now. I'm sure Marty could find Bob if you really want to talk with him, as they used to be good friends. I myself moved out of Florida in 1990 and haven’t really been back since, so I'm not sure if they all run together like they used to.

Anyway, I gotta run. Nice site! I enjoyed looking at it, although I didn’t begin skating that early. It wasn't too long before my time, though. Now that I'm older, I can only wish to go back to those times. My skating days were the best times of my life. Take 'er easy.Mac, 07-07-05

My name is Matt Bell, and I used to skate at Apple. I hope someone is still updating the Apple site. I noticed there has been no new stuff posted since 2004? I found this copy of Skateboarder that I had autographed by Eddie Elguera when he came to visit Columbus back in December 1980. I wish I had more photos, but I wasn't really into taking pictures back then, just skatin'.Matt Bell, Westerville, Ohio, 07-02-05

Just came across a Pocket Pistol Skateboards Web site link though Juice magazine. PPS makes memorial decks for Apple, Cherry Hill, the Turf and many more. Hit this site. The Apple board is sweet.Phill, 06-09-05

Check out skatedaily.net. I got my Top 3 posted, and it links to Kenny Mollica's article on your site. Cool site, by the way. There are lots of unknown skaters that have been ripping for decades. Later, skater.Judi Oyama, 05-06-05

Fantastic! When I started skating again about four years ago, I found your site. I immediately ran to get my old Apple ID, but, of course, it wasn't there. Then I had a vague memory of moving it. So after moving—I thought it'd turn up for sure then—and more searches, the ID finally revealed itself to me while I was looking for my darts. Thanks for all the work on the site. Bob Leffler's pics were a great addition. I do his Web site for him, and skate with him when I get the chance to travel. Now if I could just find my darts. Later.Martin Malley, 05-02-05

Thanks for keeping up this fantastic site! At 42, I'm still skating ramps one or two times a week. When I first found this site three years ago, I was so excited, because I had just been looking at my Apple ID the month before. Naturally, when I went to get it to scan, the ID was nowhere to be found…until last weekend! Please post this with the other IDs. Thanks.Martin Malley, Rushville, Ohio, 03-28-05

Hey, Garry—It's been over a year since my first post. I finally dug up some old pics from Steve Trosco's ramp in Worthington Hills. I'm sending two, but if I can find the negatives, I'll send more of, hopefully, better quality. The group shot left to right: Ned Grover (I had to dig up an old yearbook for that one!), myself (Ken Eisenlord), Greg Mack, Wayne Lyons and Chris Phillips. The second shot is me doing a tail slide with Chris Phillips looking on. Steve Kipp took both shots. This predates Apple by about a year, so when Pete says he taught Chris how to skate, he's full of beans! He learned on Trosco's ramp!

By the way, I'm 100 % sure that's me standing next to Kenny Mollica in back of Dave Bush at Mollica's house. If you ever talk to Dave Bush, he can confirm it. Can I get a copy of that photo? That would really be great. I wanted to thank you again for this great site. It brings back awesome memories every time I log on. My sons get a kick out of it, as well. They can't believe the old man used to shred! My youngest son is ranked #1 in the nation by USASA for boardercross in snowboarding. We head out to Copper Mountain next week for the Nationals, so the Apple legacy continues! Thanks again, Garry. Until next time.Ken Eisenlord, 03-21-05

How's things, man? I saw Todd Cadieux signed your Guestbook. He didn't happen to leave a forwarding email address, did he? Hope all is well. Still diggin' your site!Pat Schutte, skater since '73, 02-28-05

P.S. Here's a link to my skate business card on Icelounge. Pretty fun site.

Hi, Garry—Love the site! Unfortunately, I didn't get to skate Apple. I moved here in 1983 from New Haven, Connecticut. However, I did get to skate with a lot of people that are profiled on this site, like Brett Martin, Mark Noland, Michal Grau, Kevin "Squid" Dickman and Mike Hill, to name a few. I still skate with Brett Martin and Mark Noland every now and then. Brett just had a birthday bash at Ollie's Skatepark in Florence, Kentucky recently. Great turnout! There is video footage of the bash at Skate Tn.

I have been trying to find Michal Grau for years. We used to skate together in the late '80s, but I lost touch with him and Steve Mast throughout the '90s. Michal gave me a bunch of old Skateboarder mags and an old TransWorld (Vol. 1 No. 2). I cherish those mags, as they are a great part of skate history. Some good pics of Apple grace the pages of a few issues. Hopefully, you will post this in the Guestbook, where Michal will see it and maybe he will contact me, or if you could forward this email to him, that would be great, as well. Great Site! Regards.Ron E. Riccetti, 01-21-05

Hello, Apple Skatepark!—I was just telling a co worker about the great skatepark here in Columbus back in the day, and thought I would do a Web search to see what I could find. I would love to hear from anyone from the old days.Mike Toth, Apple member #A1, 01-20-05, mtoth at commercialcontrol.com

Dear Garry—I was one of Mike Siegfried's best friends in junior high and high school in Riverside. I've lost touch with him. Do you have any clue as to how I might contact him? Good God, he must be 40, since I am. Thanks for your time and consideration, even if you can't help. Have a truly fine day.Nicole "Nicki" Thomas, 01-11-05

Hey, Garry—Your Apple DVD is on its way. I know you will like it. Also, don't forget to give me feedback on eBay. I will do the same for you. So far, there has been a huge response after you posted it on the site. I have got so many emails. Everybody wants one. Hey, I know my grammar sucks. I went to Upper Arlington High, so don't rub it in (when you told me to check your address twice). All UA grads' grammar isn't the greatest. They pushed us through the system. LOL. Enjoy.Casey Marzetti, 01-10-05

Hey, Garry—Amazing footage from Apple to Upland and more, even Endless Summer. I can't even count the pros at this point. The Raver, El Gato, Bert Lamar, Cab, Eric Grisham, Mike McGill and more. So, yes, you can put the DVD in the Items part of your site. It is $19.95 plus around $8.00 bucks shipping. Everyone that comes to your site will love this, and it's worth it. I had the rest done in chapters so it's a lot more fun to go through. It is not burnable because of the people I had script it. To buy it, email me at rhmarzetti at mac.com. Thanks.Casey Marzetti, 01-05-05

Super site. I'm a former Apple, Cherry Hill and Turf rider. Bob Reeves was my ride to the Turf and Apple on occasion. I remember Bob getting a ticket for going over 90 mph on the expressway. I love the memories. I'll see what I can do about tracking Bob down for ya.Phill Rozga, 01-03-05

Hey, Garry—A while back, I sent you a picture of me skating on backyard halfpipe for the Where Are They Now? section. Yes, I'm still skating. My daughter Mercedes is eight years old, and she rips a four-foot halfpipe up. Thanks to Santa Cruz for sending her out some decks.Casey Marzetti, 01-01-05

P.S. I read that one article on Tony Hawk you wrote in TransWorld. It was really good.

Well, I lived in Maui for for a long time and built the skatepark in Lahaina. I also had my own shop. Anyway, my neighbor was a hardcore surfer and I became really good friends with him. It turns out he grew up with Jay Adams and Shogo Kubo. So, when it came time for my fundraiser for the skatepark, I talked with Jay many times. He said he would come, but he was so messed up at that time, I don't think he had a clue. I called Eddie Elguera, as he wanted to come, but he was working with kids on an event. We talked a lot about Apple. I could get you Eddie's number. He would be a great interview. He is working with kids in the church now, but he still skates.

As far as 16 mm film of Apple goes, there are about four people that have some. I know Kevin Tate has a lot, Kenny Mollica has some, as well as myself. I think everyone should get to see all of the footage. It's our past. Maybe down the road. I didn't want to sell what I had to the locals, but I put it together on DVD, and the box and stuff adds up. But, if you want one, I will send you a copy for free. You have done a hell of a job on the Apple site, and I think its great for the people who want to remember. I will let you know when I get the rest of the Apple footage, as well Cherry Hill.Casey Marzetti, 01-01-05
